Don’t go on a date on Sunday the 28th of November 2010. This is not a superstition, its just a practical suggestion for on Sunday November the 28th 2010 London Underground (LU) staff will start a 24 hour strike starting at at 1830 GMT on Sunday.

The union calling the string the RMT said talks with their bosses to avert the strike has broken down so the strike is going ahead. Other union involved in the strike action includes Transport Salaried Staffs Association (TSSA). The apart from the strike called for tomorrow, the union has staged three strikes in recent months, the point of contention between the union and their bosses is the potential lost of 800 jobs in the ticket offices and underground station.

Transport for London (TfL) accused the unions of scuppering the talks aimed at resolving the dispute. RMT spokes person, its general secretary Bob Crow said the job cuts proposed by TFL could put passenger’s safty at risk because the level of staff presence on platforms TFL proposed would turn tube stations into “into a muggers’ and vandals’ paradise”. Bob Crow added “It is incredible that LU management would not agree to a 12-week suspension of the cuts to allow a thorough safety evaluation on the impact on each station of their cuts plans.

The Queen’s Grandson Prince William to marry Kate Middleton

The Queen's Grandson to wed

Prince William, grandsone of the queen, will marry in London next spring or summer and live in north Wales where he is serving with the RAF.

The couple, who are both 28, became engaged in October during a private holiday in Kenya.

They began dating eight years ago while studying at St Andrews University in Fife, where they shared a house.

The royal engagement was announced in a brief statement released by Clarence House.

It said: “The Prince of Wales is delighted to announce the engagement of Prince William to Miss Catherine Middleton.

“The wedding will take place in the Spring or Summer of 2011, in London. Further details about the wedding day will be announced in due course.

“Prince William has informed The Queen and other close members of his family.

“Prince William has also sought the permission of Miss Middleton’s father.”
