The union calling the string the RMT said talks with their bosses to avert the strike has broken down so the strike is going ahead. Bob Crow added “It is incredible that LU management would not agree to a 12-week suspension of the cuts to allow a thorough safety evaluation on the impact on each station of their cuts plans.

Prince William, grandsone of the queen, will marry in London next spring or summer and live in north Wales where he is serving with the RAF.

The couple, who are both 28, became engaged in October during a private holiday in Kenya.

The royal engagement was announced in a brief statement released by Clarence House.

It said: “The Prince of Wales is delighted to announce the engagement of Prince William to Miss Catherine Middleton.

“Prince William has informed The Queen and other close members of his family.

Christine Hemming, a senior partner with a city recruitment agency, allegedly broke into the home of Emily Cox, a researcher with whom the 50-year-old MP fathered a child.

She was remanded on bail and now faces a crown court trial. Mr Hemming, who once voted himself Love Rat Of The Year in a poll, seemed more concerned over the fate of the pet, called Beauty.

He posted a picture of it on his blog and asked anyone who found it to contact him at the Commons.

He added: ‘I have spent some time looking for the kitten and there is a reward for the safe return of the kitten. Her brother Twinkle is pining for her.’

Mr Hemming, MP for Birmingham Yardley, has had a colourful love life.
